Book to speak
Book Penny & Tarin, together.
A daughter who lived it and the mother who fought for her. Penny and Tarin speak side by side about what happened at school, how Penny came out of it, and what they want every parent to know.

The speakers
Two voices, one story
Penny
On Penny’s first day of sixth grade, Conejo Valley Unified School District gave her a “get to know me” survey that introduced her to the whole transgender ideology. Her transition started there and only grew stronger. She has since come out of it, and she wants to help other kids do the same. In her words: “I am still a work in progress but I now have hope for a better future.”
Tarin Swain
Penny’s mom, a homeschooling mother of more than a decade who started Stolen Penny’s. Her message to parents: “Tell your child the truth because it is the most loving thing you can do when they are confused and believing lies.”
Tarin’s message
Jesus-centered, and on a mission to bind up the broken
Tarin’s talk is rooted in Scripture and opens in prayer. Churches, ministries and faith-based groups can expect the Gospel at the center of her story. She begins with a question for the room:
“Who believes that we here in California are in a battle between good and evil?”
In her words: “We cannot win a spiritual war with earthly weapons. We must first surrender fully to Jesus and then by the power of the Holy Spirit walk in the authority that God gives us to stop evil and restore others to their Creator. I am on a restoration mission.”
Her message is built on Revelation 12:11, “by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony”, in three points:
- The Blood of Jesus. “We cannot overcome death and darkness with anything but Jesus. Why? Because He is the ONLY one who overcame it.… The KEY is JESUS.”
- The word of our testimony. Penny’s story, told by her mom.
- Answering the call even unto death. With Hebrews 2:14-15.
Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.
Themes Tarin speaks to

- A new name (Revelation 2:17, Isaiah 43:1) and deadnaming

- New life (John 10:10, Ecclesiastes 3:11, Psalm 42:1-2)

Penny’s story, as Tarin tells it
In her talk, Tarin covers:
- How teachers changed Penny’s name
- How teachers told Penny they would keep it from her mom
- A teacher’s recommendation, when Penny was 13, of a homosexual coming-of-age book
- The time Penny stopped living with her mom and lived with her dad
- Penny’s deliverance
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
